NGSS Chemistry A
Course Description: Chemistry is all about how atoms and molecules interact to build everything you see around you. A focus will be on the periodic table and what everything on it means. We will be doing labs and projects so you can learn and organize this new information. There is math in this course, but I will work to make sure you can understand and perform the calculations.
Grading Policy: There are no retakes on tests and quizzes. Students may do corrections on assessments, earning up to 50% of the missed points back, up to a maximum of 85% total grade. Corrections will be done on specified days/times.
Grading Scale:
Assignments: 35% of total grade: Classwork, homework, Lab participation
Lab (called "Projects" in Skyward): 20% of total grade: Data tables, calculations, and analysis questions
Assessments: 45% of total grade: Tests and quizzes
Trimester grades are awarded on a standard 100-point scale:
| 100 – 93% A | 89.9 – 87% B+ | 79.9 – 77% C+ | 69.9 – 64% D+ |
| 92.9 – 90% A- | 86.9 – 83% B | 76.9 – 73% C | 63.9 – 60% D |
| 82.9 – 80% B- | 72.9 – 70% C- | Below 60% F |
