Course Scope and Sequence/Book
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
IB Sports Exercise and Health Science Standard Level (SL) involves the study of the science that underpins physical performance. The course incorporates the traditional disciplines of anatomy and physiology biomechanics, psychology, and nutrition. Students cover a range of topics and carry out practical (experimental) investigations in both laboratory and field settings. This provides an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and understanding necessary to apply scientific principles and critically analyze human performance. Where relevant, the course will address issues of international dimensions and ethics by considering sport, exercise and health relative to the individual in a global context.
THIS TRIMESTER COVERS:
IB SEHS is a year-long class, trimester one will cover:
- Topic 1: How Do We Move?
- Topic 2: How Do We Respond to Exercise/Activity?
- Topic 3: How Can We Optimize Human Performance?
- We will also begin work on our Internal Assessment while practicing for our IB SEHS test in the Spring
GRADING POLICY:
- Assignments/Quizzes/Tests: At the end of every unit, students will have a grace period of nine (9) days to turn in any missing/resubmission/late work before it is closed. A "0%" will be assessed to any assignment/quiz/test that was submitted after the grace period, unless prior communication was had.
- DoNOWs/Participation: DoNOWs and Participation will be graded on Friday. No missing/late work will be accepted after the due date, unless prior communication was had.
