Course Information
Course Description and Objectives
The course is a one trimester offering designed to engage students in a genre that interests them. The elective course will be rooted in CCSS and use current YA literature to engage students to learn and practice key ELA skills. The course will focus on reading and writing the style and themes associated with Young Adult Literature. Students will read and discuss YA books with peers, engage in elements of the fiction writing process, and participate in rich discussions about the importance of Young Adult literature for readers.

Assignment Categories
Effort - 10 %, Formative Assessments - 40 %, Summative Assessments - 50 %
Due Dates
All assessments/assignments posted will have a due date attached. Late assessments/assignments can be submitted until they are open on Canvas. All work submitted within that time period will be given full credit.
Grading Scale
Consistent with Hazen grading scale.
