Welcome to 11th grade English Language Arts!
ELA 11A focuses on American Literature, including poetry, short stories, speeches, music, film, and full-length books. We will study literature from a variety of perspectives, and get to know famous authors from the past, as well as newer, contemporary authors who are writing today. The overarching goal of the course is for you to have a greater understanding of American Society through the examination of literature.
Essential Questions
What does it mean to be an American?
What are American values?
How does the American experience vary for different groups of people?
What is the American dream?
Is it relevant and achievable today?
Please come to class with a charged Chromebook every day.
Cell phone use is not permitted during class. Phones should be placed in pocket holders for the entire class period.
