This is a one trimester Health Science course OR Fitness. This class is designed for students of all grades to develop their knowledge and understanding about what Sports Medicine entails, what you can do to help prevent common injuries and how the knowledge they gain can connect to their lives now and later.
The Sports Med Team: Understanding medicine as a team sport
Injury Prevention Begins with Assessment: Involves performance of fitness testing and development of coaching and personal training qualities
Injury Prevention Through Fitness: Review and participate in the main components of fitness (cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and power).
Protective Techniques and Equipment : Introduction to athletic taping and sports protective equipment
Health & Wellness is more than Fitness: The other aspects beneficial to an individuals' performance includes: nutrition, body composition, hydration, dietary supplements and the environmental influences
- Work can be turned in late for 50% of the grade once the assignment grades have already been input in to the gradebook.
- Students must be in class in order to receive credit for their assignments.
- Late assignments will not be accepted AFTER the last Friday before Finals Week.
