Course Information
Course Description: This course provides an alternate route to achieve math credit and is taken in place of a required academic class. The academic goal of the course is for you to gain mathematical skills including building knowledge of mathematical concepts, procedures, and practices. Additionally, I want you to build confidence in yourself as math learner and to build relationships with others in the class. We will focus on Algebraic skills that will allow you to increase your confidence and abilities as a mathematics student. We will be using the Core Focus Curriculum published by SMC Curriculum. We will also be using iReady to assess student skills and provide tailored lessons as appropriate.
Course Objectives:
- Solving Multistep Linear Equations and Inequalities
- Writing Linear Equations from tables, graphs, point, and words
- Graphing Linear Equations from an equation
Grading Policy
Students will be assessed a variety of ways including work in class, independent assignments, projects, quizzes and tests. Late work will be given a 0 until turned in at which point the grade will be entered. There are no penalties for late work
Grading Scale
A 94%-100% C 74%-76.9%
A- 90%-93.99% C- 70%-73.99%
B+ 87%-89.99% D+ 64%-69.99%
B 84%-86.99% D 60%-63.99%
B- 80%-83.99% F 59.99%-0%
C+ 77%-79.99%
School-Provided Resources (Textbook, Calculator, etc):
Students will have in class access to resources such as calculators, multiplication tables, etc. Students will have access to either electronic copies and/or paper copies of assignments. The majority will have both as an option. For assignments that are electronic only, students may ask for an alternative assignment on paper if outlined as an accommodation.
