Course Description

Grading (late work, percentages, grade scale, etc)

This is a one trimester class in which students are introduced to Entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship is rising in Millennials and Gen Z's.  According to Squareup.com 53% of GenZ'ers want to start their own business over the next decade. This class will give students the opportunity to explore what entrepreneurship and business ownership are all about.  We will explore many concepts surrounding entrepreneurship, including; Market Analysis, Business Models, Venture Planning, Marketing Strategy, Marketing Mix, and Customer Relationship Management.

If you've taken any Marketing classes, you have already looked at many of these concepts from another lens.  Now you will be thinking about how these concepts might affect your own future business.

Students will pick a passion project, write a business plan, and present that business.  These projects will be eligible for submission to DECA Area competition in January and/or can be modified for FBLA Regional competition in February.

Please access all of your assignments through canvas so that I can match your grades up:)

Time Expectations

This is a college level class, and students will be completing a full 5 hours of class work during the week.  It is preferable for students to work during class when they will have access to the teacher and other students.  However, if students choose to use their class time unwisely, they will need to do work outside of the class.

Turning in Work

Unless otherwise noted, work is due by 11:59pm on the day it is due.

Late Work

We can't always plan our lives out, and unexpected things pop up that can derail our plans.  However, this is a college level class, and there is ample time in class to get most work done...if you use your class time wisely.  Also, because it is a college level class I am not supposed to accept late work.  If something comes up to derail your work...please let me know.

**Note:  Turning in an incomplete project is better than not turning in anything.

DECA CLUB

Mission:  DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

Career and Technical Student Organizations are encouraged and required for every Career and Technical Education (CTE) class in the state of Washington.  Therefore, every student is requested to join the DECA club.  DECA is the Marketing club that helps students experience business and marketing.  Members compete in 'simulation' events or prepared events where they use what they learned in business and marketing classes to solve a real world problem.  In April 2024, we will be travelling to Anaheim, CA to compete against International DECA students.  We are encouraging everyone to participate with this goal in mind.

Please contact me at any time to set up a private meeting, or with quick questions.

I'm super excited to connect with you this year!
