Welcome to Marketing Exploration!

This is a one trimester class in which students are introduced to the fundamentals of Marketing. Students will develop the skills necessary to secure and succeed in the world of work.

We will follow a similar routine most weeks. We use Stukent's Mod Marketing online textbook. Each week, we will go to a new chapter of the textbook. Each chapter will have a corresponding quiz and assignments associated with what we read, typically assigned through the first two to three days of the week and due later in the week. I encourage all students to finish work by the following weekend, if possible, but I understand that sometimes everyone needs more time to complete their work.  In a typical week, we will follow the chapter topic in Stukent the first three days. Thursday and Friday we will use use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create graphics projects focused on marketing and sales products/services. All Stukent topics and graphics projects will be entered on this Canvas site.

HHS DECA

Students are encouraged to participate and become members of the local DECA Chapter run by Ms. Crow. Activities include leadership, skill development, and participation at local, state and national leadership conferences.

Mission:  DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

Career and Technical Student Organizations are encouraged and required for every Career and Technical Education (CTE) class in the state of Washington.  Therefore, every student should join the DECA club.  DECA is a Marketing club that helps students experience business and marketing.  Members compete in 'simulation' events where they use what they learned in Marketing class to solve a real world problem.

Goodboy Classroom Expectations

Please be present!

    • This means coming to class, on time – every day!
    • This also means being present while in class – use your class time wisely
    • Regular, timely attendance will be important for you to get the grade you want in our class
    • If you are absent, please have your absence excused with the attendance office

Our class follows a pattern each week:

    • I assign the week’s work on Monday, then we spend the rest of the week working on it in class – the more you work in class, the less homework you will have
      • If I notice that people aren’t using class time wisely, I will add more work to class time, which gives more homework
    • Work is due by the end of the week or weekend
      • I will not deduct for late work, but you will have 40% of your grade for an assignment until the assignment is turned in

You can choose your seats: please don't move around the class during the trimester. However, I may need to relocate you due to class management issues.

    • Again, please sit in the same seat every day. If you need to move, let me know first, and we can relocate you where you will have success.

When the bell rings for class to start, please be in your seat, logon to our PC's to access our Canvas course. The PC's will allow you to access Stukent and our Adobe graphics software.

    • I will mark you absent if you are not in the class when I take attendance soon after the bell. I will be following current Hazen High School attendance procedures.

When I am giving class instruction, please put phones away, take out earbuds or take off headphones

    • When I’m done with class instruction, you are more than welcome to listen to your own music, as long as you’re the only one to hear it – and you can still hear me!

Restroom Pass is not available during the first 10 minutes of class and the last 10 minutes of class

    • Only one student at a time, so please don’t abuse or your privileges will be revoked

Please do not line up at the door at the end of class

    • Stay at your seats until the bell rings so we can maintain social distancing for health reasons
