Course Description:

This is a one trimester Health Science course.  This class is designed for students of all grades to develop their knowledge and understanding about what Sports Medicine entails, what you can do to help prevent common injuries and how the knowledge they gain can connect to their lives now and later.

Course Objectives: 

The Sports Med Team: Understanding medicine as a team sport

Injury Prevention Begins with Assessment: Involves performance of fitness testing and development of coaching and personal training qualities

Injury Prevention Through Fitness: Review and participate in the main components of fitness (cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and power).

Protective Techniques and Equipment : Introduction to athletic taping and sports protective equipment

Health & Wellness is more than FitnessThe other aspects beneficial to an individuals' performance includes: nutrition, body composition, hydration, dietary supplements and the environmental influences 

Grading Policy:

All work can receive full credit up until October 15 (midterm) AND Friday, November 26.  Anything turned in after this date will not be graded. You must contact me via email if there are any concerns when getting close to this due date.
