Message from Rusty
Team! Welcome to AP Economics for the 2021-2022 school year! Teaching AP Econ is one of my favorite things to do. I am so excited to be a part of this group and to have the opportunity to be a part of your learning journey this year. I want you to know that I am here for you every step of the way. Here are my commitments to you:
- I recognize that we (you and I) are not the same people we were in March of 2020 and April of 2021. I promise to not pretend that we are and not treat you as such. We cannot go back to the way things were, so lets work together to figure out where to go from here.
- I recognize learning happens by both parties in the room. I promise to be realistic and not pretend to know all the answers. Let’s work together to figure them out.
- I recognize that you are human and sometimes humans make mistakes. I promise to not hold mistakes over you, rather help you learn from your mistakes and let you know that you matter, you are loved, and you are important.
- I recognize that we all have days that can be difficult for a wide variety of reasons. I promise to give you the space to speak, express your feelings and/or frustrations, and to not meet anger with anger.
- I promise to support you in order to help you learn and provide you the space with the ability to help you reach your potential.
Course Description
AP Microeconomics is one trimester course which focuses on how economic decisions are made by individuals, firms, and organizational structures. Supply and demand analysis is developed to demonstrate how market prices are determined, how those prices determine an economy’s allocation of goods and services, how factors of production are allocated in the production process, and how goods and services are distributed throughout the economy. Students will learn how to make decisions using the concepts of efficiency and equity. Emphasis is placed on economics as a method and model for decision making. Should a student register for the test, the AP Micro exam will take place on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 8:00 am. By taking this exam, you have the opportunity to earn 3 college credits; should you score a 3 or above on the test.
Grading Policy
All work will be accepted without penalty of point deduction until Sunday, November 28, 2021 @ 11:59 pm. Performance on the AP exam in May will not have any effect on your grade in the course.
