The online activities in Textivate revolve around the chapter's "core story" or "mini-cuento." 

• The primary purpose of these activities is to allow you...
  • to work with the chapter's target vocabulary and grammar in context 

• The secondary purpose is to help you practice careful reading:
  • to notice sentence structure
  • to notice "connective tissue" within sentences
  • to notice spelling and punctuation
• After completing the prescribed activities, you should be able to:
  • translate each sentence to English
  • recall the story's events in order 
  • know the story sufficiently well that you could replace any words that have been removed at random
• To help you:
  • as you start out, it is okay to reference the original, full text (found in your packet)
    • try to rely less and less on the original text as you proceed
  • click on the "butterfly" icon to see the story's illustration as you work
  • click on the "page" icon to see the English translation as you work
