Course Description
Geometry is basically about the study of shapes. An understanding of the attributes and the relationships of geometric objects can be applied in diverse contexts - interpreting schematic drawings, estimating the amount of wood needed to frame a sloping roof, rendering computer graphics, or designing or sewing patterns for the most efficient usable material.
In this class, students begin to formalize their geometry experiences from elementary and middle school, using more precise definitions and developing careful proofs. The concepts of congruence, similarity, and symmetry can be understood from the perspective of geometric transformations. We will explore shapes, angles, definitions, and scale factors.
Grades
Assessments that demonstrate your individual mastery of learning targets within the course will be 85% of your grade. Participation makes up the remaining 15% of your grade and includes Homework and Classwork.

Knowledge is too precious to steal or share with someone else. Under no circumstances is cheating or plagiarizing allowed. Any student involved in cheating will receive a zero for that assignment. A referral will be sent to an administrator for further consequences and your parent(s) will be notified (progressive discipline is applied, see school handbook for more details).
