This is a class in which students will learn about structures and functions of the human body. They will discover basic information about cells and how the body is organized by doing a brief overview of all the body systems. Several body systems will be studied in depth, with the remainder being covered in the following trimesters. Students will also explore diseases and disorders related to the systems of study, including causes, symptoms, and treatments. They will discover how the body maintains itself through growth, balance and fighting disease. Medical Terminology is a key element in the understanding of Anatomy and Physiology and students will build on their studies from first semester, greatly expanding their medical vocabulary.
- Define anatomy and physiology
- Relate the importance and purpose of medical terminology to anatomy, physiology and disease.
- Construct and define medical terms using word roots, prefixes and suffixes
