Course Syllabus

Welcome to Social Media Marketing!

This is a one trimester class in which students are introduced to the fundamentals of marketing:  Students will develop the skills necessary to secure and succeed in the world of work. Students are encouraged to participate and become members of the local DECA Chapter. Activities include leadership, skill development, and participation at local, state and national leadership conferences.

In class, we will follow a similar routine most days.  We will have a warm up activity on the computers, then we will have discussions, lectures, or other activities, and finally, we will return to the computers for an exit activity.  You can see most of the assignments already entered on this canvas site.

DECA CLUB

Mission:  DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

Career and Technical Student Organizations are encouraged and required for every Career and Technical Education (CTE) class in the state of Washington.  Therefore, every student is required to join the DECA club.  DECA is a Marketing club that helps students experience business and marketing.  Members compete in 'simulation' events where they use what they learned in Marketing class to solve a real world problem.  This is an especially exciting year because students have the opportunity to earn a spot to DECA State and DECA International Leadership Conference and Competition in Disney World (Orlando).  We are encouraging everyone to participate with this goal in mind.  Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 2:10.  Come as often as you can, but remember, we also want to accommodate sports teams and other clubs. Since you won't be in my class in January, the Area competition is recommended (not required).  Dues for DECA are $20. If this is a hardship, please let me know.

Also, please check out the DECA canvas page that you will be connected on shortly.
