NGSS Physics B

Course Description: Physics studies the elementary interactions of phenomena in this Universe. This course will be an introduction to general physics emphasizing a conceptual approach where students will develop skills in experimental methods and measurement. Students will learn the nature of physics, and students will learn how to use observations and experiments to understand the physical world. Topics include basic concepts of current electricity and then apply those concepts to explore the fundamental relationship between electric current and magnetism, both wave and particle models for electromagnetic radiation and wave transfer of information. This is an algebra-based science lab course.

Grading Policy: There are no retakes on tests and quizzes. Students may do corrections on assessments, earning up to 50% of the missed points back, up to a maximum of 85% total grade. Corrections will be done on specified days/times in class.

Grading Scale:

Assignments: 35% of total grade: Classwork, homework, Lab participation
Lab (called "Projects" in Skyward): 20% of total grade: Data tables, calculations, and analysis questions
Assessments: 45% of total grade: Tests and quizzes
Trimester grades are awarded on a standard 100-point scale:

100 – 93% A	89.9 – 87% B+	79.9 – 77% C+	69.9 – 64% D+
92.9 – 90% A-	86.9 – 83% B	76.9 – 73% C	63.9 – 60% D
	82.9 – 80% B-	72.9 – 70% C-	Below 60% F
