Office Hours: email me and we can set up anytime, or we meet during class time on work days.
Grading (late work, percentages, grade scale, etc)
This is a three-trimester class in which students are running the store. We will be adding merchandise this year, so be ready for some exciting changes.
Turning in Work
Unless otherwise noted, work is due by 11:59pm on the day it is due.
Late Work
We can't always plan our lives out, and unexpected things pop up that can derail our plans. However, this is a college level class, and there is ample time in class to get most work done...if you use your class time wisely. Also, because it is a college level class I am not supposed to accept late work. If something comes up to derail your work...please let me know.
Assignments
We will be using Knowledge Matters to complete a Retail Simulation. You can access these assignments through the modules. All assignments are linked in Canvas. I have put on due dates, but you are welcome to complete any work early. Since this is a project based/mastery level class, you can demonstrate your learning as you go.
First assignment: Earn your Food Handler's Permit / or get Ms. Crow a copy of your current permit
Weekly assignments: In addition to the work you complete in the store, each week you will read a chapter, take a reading quiz, take a math quiz, and complete simulation. Everything in this class is open notes, open books, and open computer. Please use your resources and ask for help at any time.
Working Schedule
Every week, teams from 3rd and 4th period will rotate through working. There are 4 teams. Within teams, students will rotate through different jobs. The Jobs/Teams will be posted for a 2 week period so that students know when and where to be. Here is the team schedule for the Trimester:
DECA CLUB
Mission: DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
Career and Technical Student Organizations are encouraged and required for every Career and Technical Education (CTE) class in the state of Washington. Therefore, every student is requested to join the DECA club. DECA is the Marketing club that helps students experience business and marketing. Members compete in 'simulation' events or prepared events where they use what they learned in business and marketing classes to solve a real-world problem. In April 2025, we will be travelling to Orlando, FL to compete against International DECA students. We are encouraging everyone to participate with this goal in mind.
Please contact me at any time to set up a private meeting, or with quick questions.
I'm super excited to connect with you this year!
