FRQy Friday:

2012 and 2013

We are dividing our review work into 5 areas:

Multiple Choice Mondays: Each week you will complete one of the MC exams in the prep book I provide you. They will be due at the start of class Monday (you will walk in with your scantron complete!). The point is for me to be able to scan your answers Monday and use class time to go over common mistakes on the questions (and play Human Histogram on other MC questions in the remaining time if any).

The best way to practice authentically is to follow the time (and calculator) restrictions for each exam. Some people like to make a note of which questions they were able to answer within the allotted time, but then continue working to complete all questions.

Targeted Tuesdays: Each Tuesday will focus on one common "type" of FRQ. There are about 8-10 frequently tested topics in the FRQs (this list is not in any particular order but I did put BC topics first!).

Series Question (there is ALWAYS at least one, and increasingly they are showing up as parts of two)
Parametrics
Polar Equations
Integration Techniques (Including AB topics and Partial Fractions, Integration by Parts, and Improper Integrals)
DE (at the BC level these often include connections to Logistics, Domain& Range, Limits, and Euler's Method in addition to Implicit Differentiation and Solving)
Area & Volume
Position, Velocity, Acceleration
Rates (Accumulations, Extrema, etc.)
FTC (Critical Numbers, Increasing, Decreasing, Concavity, etc.)
Tabular Data & Riemann Sums
*Maximum, Minimum, POI, and JPCR (Just Plain Calculus Rules)

Classwork on Tuesdays will focus on several examples of the targeted topic to understand the patterns and structures which can be used to solve similar problems. This process will include a close look at the current week's FRQs (from the previous Friday) to see which, if any exemplify the targeted topic. Homework will continue practice with the targeted topic.

Wonderful (Workday) Wednesdays: Each Wednesday will be a "catch up" day for you to spend time working on whatever you need to work on. You may use the time Wednesday to:

show me any assignments I have not already seen for the prior week (Wednesdays are the "Due Date" for the prior week's work),
catch up on practice from other days that you have not completed,
work in greater depth on a topic on which you need more review (see me for resources if necessary),
revisit pre-calculus topics on which you need a refresher,
or just take a break and catch up on other classes that need attention, too.

Throwback Thursdays: Thursdays we'll review topics from the entire course (including AB and BC material). Class time will be used for summary review of specific topics as needed. Homework will be to annotate the assigned AP Classroom Review videos. I am going to give you links to both AB and BC Review videos and let you choose to do one or both. If the BC review video for the week is one we have already watched, watch the AB video if you don't need to see it again -- or watch it again, if you think it will help, or watch both in your "copious free time."

FRQy Fridays: Fridays (and the weekend homework) are reserved for FRQ practice -- we are going to complete as many full FRQ exams as possible between now and May 6th! Some Fridays will be actual FRQ quizzes, some will just be group practice. What is not completed in class becomes homework. My goal is to get through at least 2 complete sets of FRQs each week in addition to the Target FRQs on Tuesdays!
