Course Information
In biology, students study a variety of life processes and learn how different organisms meet the challenges of living in their environment. Major biological concepts include homeostasis, energy transfer and use, the relationship between structure and function, and change over time. Students will also participate in hands on scientific laboratory activities. Students will be given assignments which include command terms from the International Baccalaureate (IB) program which are defined as follows:
Assessments (60%) Quizzes, tests, scientific writing assessments.
Classwork (30%) Daily assignments & activities
Final Exam (10%)
- All students are expected to participate in classwork. Assigned work is expected to be turned in by the date due, late penalties will be applied.
- Quizzes/Tests may be retaken twice, highest score kept. No retest on final exam.
Grade Scale
A: 94 – 100% A-: 90 – 93% B+: 87 – 89% B: 84 – 86% B-: 80 – 83% C+: 77 – 79% C: 74 – 76% C: 70 – 73% D+: 67 - 69% D: 60 – 66% F: 59% & below
