ATTENDANCE
Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes prepare students for the world of work, as well as for personal, family, and community growth. Employers expect literate, cooperative workers who can solve problems and are ready, willing, and able to complete their work quickly and efficiently. Therefore, CTE classes teach and instill the work ethics of regular attendance, being a member of a team, commitment, self-discipline, reliability, and punctuality. Poor attendance is disruptive to learning activities and will affect your overall grade. The extent to which your grade is affected will depend upon several factors.
Students who are gone without permission for longer than ½ of the period will be marked absent. Regardless if they return.
If your absent, you have access to all materials needed to complete work via Canvas and Flow.
If you believe there is an error in attendance, please email me directly dnelson@rentonschools.us.
CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION
There are LED lights around the front white board. When its red, the teacher or Editor in Chief is asking for full attention, phones in cubbies, Chromebook closed and not on the desktops unless it’s part of the instructional direction. When its green, students can resume their activities. This does not include being on your smartphone unless you’re doing photos or video. Any student not following direction will be given a prompt to give full attention.
HOMEWORK
Students may be required to complete projects before or after school. This includes interviews, attending an evening activity or sporting event. Students with activities/sports should work with Editor in Chief to ensure project(s) can be completed without missing their activity or sports. Students also have an opportunity on Wednesdays to stay after school to work on any projects needed with assistance from the Editor in Chief or adviser.
MISSING ASSIGNMENTS
To get a quality grade you should strive to meet all deadlines established. Missing deadlines or not turning in work lowers your grade. Missing deadlines will result in 10% reduction. Assignments not turned in will receive 50% of the grade value after missing two weeks past the deadline (unless you have 504, IEP or ELL).
GRADING
Video Game Design is a Project Based Learning course and grading is based on completed on-time published projects.
Students falling below 60% will be issued N/C, no credit as a final grade in the class.
