Welcome to our new classroom.  I'm excited to share Social Media Marketing with you.  This trimester, you will be learning about how businesses market to their customers online.   We will concentrate on the 'Big 6':  Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, and Snapchat.  These are the social media that are currently used by most companies.  There are other important Social Media platforms (LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, Farmers Only, etc.), but those platforms don't make as much money for businesses.  Businesses sell more and get more recognition (that leads to sales) on the Big 6.  So, put aside your preconceived notions about Social Media and start thinking about how businesses are making money off you!!

We will be using this canvas site and a website called, stukent.com.  On stukent, you will see a book called 'Marketing Strategies" and a simulation called 'Mimic'.  The book is very basic, so you will read a chapter (or two) each week and take a quiz.  You will also complete an assigned activity to round out your understanding.  The simulation is setup to look like software that professional social media executives.  You will pick the content, the message, and the hash tags.

Every week will look very similar.  Please check the assignments and announcements for information about what exactly is due.  If you are still confused, ask another student.  If you are still confused, message me.  If you are still confused, we are all doomed!

Students will also use a simulation to try out what they're learning as they pretend to be a Marketing Intern for a Bag Manufacturer who needs help marketing on Social Media.

All work should be completed in class.  Any work you don't finish can be accessed and completed at home.
