Course Description 

BELIEF:  All students are mathematicians and as a department, we are committed to helping
all students succeed in mathematics.

Welcome to Algebra at Renton High School! We have high expectations for every single
student because we know that you all have the potential to be successful in this class, but it
takes hard work every day.

In general, Algebra is about representing math as equations (using variables), graphs, functions, and understanding the rules needed to manipulate the math from one form to another. 

Course Objectives

Students will be able to recognize mathematical equations, functions, and graphs.  Algebra is the basis for math in high school and beyond.  Students will use variables to represent numbers to write and solve equations used in real-life situations.

Grading Scale

Assessments that demonstrate your individual mastery of learning targets within the course will be 85% of your grade. Participation makes up the remaining 15% of your grade and includes Homework and Classwork.
