Awards & Recognition
Below are the list of RSD/Hazen awards that you may receive during your 4 years in high school! All awards will be given out during Senior Awards Night in late Spring of your senior year.
Washington State Honors - The Washington State Honors Award is a state program that honors the top 10% of the current year's Washington state high school graduating class. A Washington State certificate will be awarded to the students who meet the criteria.
President's Education Award - Students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5+ will receive a Gold Honor Cord to wear at Graduation! *The cumulative GPA will include grades up to your Trimester 2/Winter Quarter of your senior year.
Top Academic Top 7% - Students who rank in the top 7% based on cumulative GPA of the current Hazen graduating class will receive a Blue Honor Cord to wear at Graduation. You may qualify for both the Gold and the Blue Cords.*The cumulative GPA will include grades up to your Trimester 2/Winter Quarter of your senior year.
Washington State Seal of Biliteracy - A medal will be awarded to students who have achieved fluency in another language by receiving a 4 on the World Language Proficiency Test.
Educator Rising - Students who have taken and graduated from Teacher Academy will receive a light blue & white honor cord.
Superintendent's Certificate of Merit and Pin - Students who have accumulated over 80+ hours of community service will be award the Superintendent's Certificate of Merit and a pin to wear at graduation. You must submit your hours by the deadline in Spring.
- Bronze - 80+ Hours of Community Service
- Silver - 100+ Hours of Community Service
- Gold - 120+ Hours of Community Service
Oliver M. Hazen Award - Recipients of the Oliver M. Hazen Award are Hazen students that have achieved academic excellence, actively participated in school-related activities, and made positive contributions to the Hazen community through their leadership and service. The awardees are announced during Senior Awards Night. OMH award recipients will be seated in the front rows during graduation and will be presented with special regalia (medal and stole) to wear during the graduation ceremony.
