ASSIGNMENT: El Hombre Bajo- Extension Activity (Grammar)

One difference between the two stories of this unit is that the main character switches from being about he/him(John) to being a story about you.  Notice how the first story says things like "he is a short man" and "he goes to a witch" while the second story says things like "you are a short man" and "you go to a witch." 

Read these two paragraphs: 

from the Historieta Principal:

John es un hombre muy bajo... John trabaja en una oficina en Caracas....La mujer le dice: «Hola» y besa a John en la mejilla... John está muy confundido. John va a una bruja. La bruja le da una poción mágica. John bebe la poción y está alto, muy alto, ¡más alto que una jirafa! 

from the Versión Alternativa:

.... tú eres un hombre muy bajo. Tú trabajas en una oficina en Caracas... la mujer te dice: «Hola» y te besa en la mejilla...Estás muy confundido. Vas a mi clínica mágica y te doy una poción para hombres bajos. Bebes la poción y en dos minutos estás alto, muy alto, ¡más alto que Yao Ming!

Notice:

• In the first story trabaja (he lives) changes to trabajas (you live) in the second story.
• In the first story está (he is) changes to estás (you are) in the second story.
• In the first story le (to him) changes to te (to you) in the second story.

Directions Recall the silly story about the witch who goes to Starbucks and then to be Boba Tea bar.  Imagine that you are speaking directly to the witch and telling her what happened to "you" (the witch). Change the story to be from what "she" does to be about what "you" do. Use the dropdowns to make the necessary changes.

Hay una bruja.
La bruja no es normal.
Ella tiene la nariz muy larga y ella es muy alta, verde, y fea.
Ella tiene el pelo largo. La bruja se llama Petunia.
Ella no tiene novio (boyfriend) pero quiere uno porque quiere besar.
A Petunia le gusta beber café.
Petunia va a Starbucks.
El barista que trabaja en el café es alto, guapo y castaño.
