Classroom Information:

Welcome to Geometry A! We will be studying the properties of shapes, solids, angles, and lines. Geometry is a different type of math than what students may be comfortable with but that is ok! This class is a great opportunity to build on problem solving skills and analytical thinking – especially in the visual aspect of thinking. All homework, announcements, class info will be on the Canvas website. If you need help with Canvas, let me know or ask the office. As with other classes, there will be Zoom classes and I will be available everyday for help/questions. I will also be teaching a few lessons each week live on Zoom so make sure to check Canvas every day. Weekly Emails will be sent to students and parents updating them on what has happened and what is coming up in class. Please make sure all email addresses are updated with the front office!

 

Grading Policy:

65% - summative assessments (tests, projects, labs, presentations, etc.)

35% - Classwork (classwork, homework, etc.)

 

Grade Scale:

 

Trimester grades are awarded on a standard 100 point scale:

100 – 93%       A	86.9 – 83%      B	76.9 – 73%      C
92.9 – 89.5%   A-	82.9 – 79.5%   B-	72.9 – 70%      C-
89.4 – 87%      B+	79.4 – 77%      C+	69.9 – 60%      D

 

Cell Phone/Electronics/Chromebook Policy

Cell phones are NOT allowed during instruction time.

We will have breaks during class in which they are allowed. Otherwise, they should NOT be visible.

Music is allowed during work time/break time only.

Chromebooks can be used for taking notes/any misuse will result in a ban from use.

Students who comply to this rule will receive extra credit at the end of each week.

It’s worth an entire homework! Do this every week, it’s like getting 12 free homework assignments!

 

Family Access: 

Students and their parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to use Family Access to monitor grades and attendance.

Hazen HS Expectations & Policies – Student Handbook

Students are expected to review and follow the school rules, procedures, and processes outlined in the HHS student handbook.

 

Food & Drink

Food and beverages, with the exception of water, are not permitted in the classroom unless given out by me or if there is an accommodation.

 

Hall Passes

Students must have permission to leave class. Students are not allowed to leave class during the first and last 10 minutes of class.

Testing Policy

There will be a quiz on most Fridays.

Students will be allowed one, single sided, handwritten note card for each assessment taken in class along with a calculator. 

Late Work Policy

Late work is accepted for partial credit until the end of unit test. After that, it will not be accepted.  NO EXCEPTIONS

If a student is absent the day homework is due, they are given one extra day to make up the work. The absence must be excused, any work due on an unexcused absence will not be accepted until the student has gotten the absence excused. In order to get an absence excused, please have your parent/guardian email me at Daniel.Song@rentonschools.us to let me know.

Redo Policy

Students are allowed to retake two tests for the trimester, so choose wisely! Test retakes must be taken within a week of the chapter test being graded. Retakes must be scheduled with the me first! There are no quiz retakes. NO EXCEPTIONS
