Intervening Obstacles- these can be physical, like mountains or oceans. The obstacles can be political/economic- no money or paperwork to get into a country.

Quotas- the US has laws that sets the number of immigrants that the country will allow in. These laws can also ban people from certain countries- or limit the number from one country while favoring other immigrants.

Unauthorized Immigrants- same as illegal immigrants
