Icons for Teachers

Icon Listing

Using icons as a visual cueing system for students assists students with disabilities, but also general education students as well. Roa and Gagie's (2006) provides reasons as to why you should use visual supports:

  • They are part of everyone's communication system.
  • They can attract and hold a student's attention.
  • They enable the student to focus on the message and reduce anxiety.
  • They made abstract concepts more concrete for the student.
  • They help all students.

The icons shown below have been chosen in an effort to standardize courses. Teachers may copy and paste the entire table into their content pages for use in Canvas. It is extremely important that the attributions at the bottom of the home page and the first content page in the template remain in place. These attributions allow teachers to use these images while following copyright guidelines. Teachers can (and should) copy and paste the attribution below to pages throughout their Canvas LMS course.
